Facebook Tips for Plumbing, HVAC Businesses
A Facebook page can be effective word-of-mouth advertising for a plumbing, HVAC or rooter company, keeping you connected with current customers and in front of new ones. Comments, Likes and recommendations by customers on your Facebook page also get broadcast to their friends, so your goal is to post something that will get customers to respond. Best of all, these folks can say positive things about your service. We took a look at active plumbing company Facebook pages and came up with these tips that you can use on your Facebook page right away.
The plumbing companies are Roto-Rooter of Chicagoland (Addison, Illinois), Sanders Plumbing (Knoxville, Tennessee), Jeff the Plumber at Wagner Plumbing (Sacramento, California), Hedlund Plumbing (Grand Ledge, Michigan), Tapp Plumbing (Loganville, Georgia), Plumbing Professors (Canton, Michigan), Mastercraft Heating, Cooling & Plumbing (Redford, Michigan) and Bud’s Plumbing (Evansville, Indiana).

1. Offer customers incentives to post favorable comments
2. Or just ask your longtime customers to post recommendations
After Sanders Plumbing posted “please support me by posting about your good experiences” (on Oct. 9, 2011) to counter negative comments, a half dozen clients posted praises on the company’s page. Facebook also offers a Recommendations box in the upper right of the page, where customers can fill in their positive comments.
3. Show images of unusual or challenging jobs to show your expertise
4. Toot your horn about awards and honors
5. Make a special offer
6. Give seasonal tips for homeowners
7. Be a source of news on plumbing products, water quality or other relevant topics
8. Show community spirit – promote local businesses or charity events
9. Show that your staff is friendly and hard working
10. Post a silly or a serious question as a conversation starter
11. Turn the Welcome tab into an advertisement
Take a look at these Welcome tabs from Bud’s Plumbing and Mastercraft Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, which look like full page advertisements making coupon offers and inducing visitors to Like the page. You’ll need to contract with a social media marketing firm or Facebook developer to get this functionality. Your Facebook page can be programmed to automatically send first-time visitors to the Welcome tab.

If you have 2 locations can you list both on 1 facebook page?
Yes, but it’s not a great solution. Take a look at this ice cream shop with two locations. Facebook only lets you display one address. If you click the About link you can see their other location info. If you want to have multiple Facebook Place listings you can do that, in addition to your main FB Page. Might make sense if you want people to “check in” at each location via Facebook though generally it makes sense to have one FB business Page because you can do much more with a Page so people typically merge their Places with their Page. But you can only merge one Place with a Page.
